Imagine driving a Dragoman Overland truck along the Silk Routes of Central Asia, immersing yourself and a truck full of travel-loving passengers in the rich and diverse cultures of South America, or simply patting yourself on the back after a challenging drive across the dramatic terrain of the Sahara desert.
This is the everyday reality of a Dragoman Overland crew member!
Our extensive UK-based in-house training programme is structured to gradually raise your awareness of the many aspects involved with the job.
Once on the road, the opportunity to work all over Africa, Asia, Central & South America will offer you the kind of invaluable work experience other people can only dream about.
Leading a trip full of people of differing nationalities through some of the most beautiful yet challenging countries in the world is not easy, but IS incredibly rewarding.
Your job entails dealing with:
- The logistical side of the trip based upon our comprehensive route notes
- The everyday demands of passengers and their well being
- Local conditions and arranging the trip excursions
The bureacracy of the trip regarding organising visas and truck paperwork as necessary. Dealing with authorities in the developing world requires a lot of patience and a good sense of humour. A smiley face and friendly nature are essential to ensure that all goes smoothly.
In return, working for Dragoman Overland gives you the chance to see large parts of the world and to have an amazing time in the process!
All crew on the road (including trainees) receive a daily living allowance. Once a qualified crew member, you will start to earn a wage as well. When you are leading trips and/or a trip mechanic you will also be eligible for bonuses based upon your performance, up to £1000 in the first year, increasing thereafter.
It could not be simpler!!
